Stage 1 & Stage 2
At 300hp the Golf R is already quick, but the EA888 Gen3 is used in Audi RS3 and S3 applications producing considerably more from the same block. The factory map is simply playing it safe.
A Stage 1 remap on the Volkswagen Golf R requires no hardware modifications. Our specialist software recalibrates boost, fuelling and ignition timing within the engine’s safe limits, delivering instant, driveable gains you’ll feel from the first drive.
Stage 2 requires hardware modifications — typically a performance exhaust, uprated intercooler or induction kit. Combined with a custom ECU map, this unlocks the full potential of the 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen3 engine.
What Changes
We push boost, fuelling and ignition timing to the maximum the standard hardware supports. The result is a car that pulls significantly harder throughout the rev range, with noticeably improved mid-range torque that makes it much faster in real-world conditions.
Factory boost is set conservatively. We raise it to the level the turbo and internals can comfortably sustain, unlocking power that was always there.
Fuel delivery is recalibrated to match the new boost levels precisely — giving a cleaner burn, better response and improved efficiency under light loads.
Timing is advanced where the engine can safely benefit, improving combustion efficiency and delivering more torque across the full rev range.
The factory throttle map is deliberately muted. We sharpen it so the car responds the moment you press the pedal — no lag, no hesitation.

A quality remap modifies the ECU’s calibration data rather than adding any external hardware. While a dealership with specialist equipment could detect a changed map, it leaves no physical trace and does not trigger warning lights.

Stage 2 typically involves a high-flow downpipe, upgraded intercooler and induction kit alongside a custom ECU map. This allows boost to be pushed beyond Stage 1 limits, reaching 400hp+ on some builds.
